A Clockwork Orange

A well constructed movie from start to finish… although I find it harder to “accept” given the way that “history” is progressing.  This movie had tons of classic moments, and grotesque moments which I couldn’t turn away from.  I suppose some bits of the movie do age well… What makes us good or evil?  What makes us who we are?  If we lose our evil side, do we lose ourselves?  Weighty topics addressed on screen.

2001: A Space Odyssey

duuuuh duuuuuh duuuuuh DA DA!!! Seems strange that here I am writing this in the year 2000. So, I guess in one year we’ll have manned missions to Jupiter? This movie was really cool, at least the filming was really cool. I’m not sure what it all meant though… maybe something about how screwed up man is or something or something else? Heck, I liked it.

Eyes Wide Shut

A fine although sad end to Stanley Kubrick’s career.  I’m sorry that he didn’t make more movies, because all of them are really cool and uniquely stylish.  I wish I had seen this on a big screen.  I probably need to see it again in order to understand just what it was “really” about, but as far as I could tell it probed the fine line between thought and action – between fantasy and reality.  Parts of this movie were almost a manifestation of those secret twisted thoughts that we all have.  “she” had the thoughts & “he” acted on them.  I could write more, but I’m afraid I’m out of my league.  See this movie.
