The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

2nd-best-exotic-marigoldWhen you reach a certain age, you might actually enjoy movies like this… Apparently that age is 45.

Sure, there was a lot of cliché stuff – lessons everyone ought to know (hint – we’re all going to die someday… probably sooner that we’d like). But, sometimes you just have to appreciate the little things – dialog, characters, setting. Now, do I have to watch the first one?

Chocolat

One of those movies that I rented simply because of the hype – wasn’t expecting much. It was wonderful movie – everything I secretly hoped it would be. In a way, it was like a modern-day fairy tale. One of those movies that puts you in a good mood without resorting to the usual predictable “hollywood tactics”. btw: I had thought this was a French movie, but it is in English… just set in France. I did have one question though, did they really have cellophane wrapping in 1950’s rural France? I would think the shop would be more likely to use paper wrappings…

Ladies in Lavender

A couple dysfunctional old women along the English shore have a dose of reality interrupt their fantasy lives. It’s pretty well done, though a few of the characters left me scratching my head. Plus, the violinist guy was a bit annoying… I don’t know… I liked it I guess. I wonder, do I have to like or dislike everything? I mean, can’t we all just “be”?
