Over the Sands
The next morning we woke to sideways mist - much more tolerable than sideways rain. After a few hours, the mist died down, we found water to drink and made steady progress. The grit returned with a vengeance however, and we had to take a number of breaks to try and clean out our footwear.

Our map showed an area of cabins at a place called Veišivötn, slightly off our intended route. After two straight days of closed huts, we weren't in the mood to try again. Later, we learned the area was open, and might have been worth a visit. In general the area was one of barren sandy landscapes dotted with lakes. At times, it felt like a beach without an ocean.
