I thought this was done very cleverly. It tackles an unusual issue – what is it that makes us human? or, what is it that makes humans special? and can something we create ever be as special as we ourselves are? Could we ever create a soul that’s as real as our own? If you’re intrigued by this, go see the movie… if not, I feel sorry for you. I think if it was done by any other director, it would have been cheesy, if nothing else, this movie shows why Spielberg is simply great at what he does. (I think Kubrick would have done a fine job with it too – too bad he died)

The Sixth Sense

A good flick, worth the wait for the “Ooooohhhh, I get it…” moment. But, when you think about it… that’s about all there was. And if you know there’s going to be a surprise plot twist (like I did), you’re likely to spend the whole time guessing what it is, and guess it before it’s revealed… which takes a bit of the steam off the thing.

Pay it Forward

Sure, it’s a feel-good movie with a difficult to believe premise, but I liked it because it didn’t slide into the realm of ridiculousness. It wasn’t really as much about the “pay it forward” concept as it was a love story. There were a few eye-rolling bits though – the suicide on the bridge scene & the ending… but that’s forgivable. It would have been so easy to have made this a really silly movie… which is what I expected, but didn’t find.
