Mt. Shasta is a volcano in the Cascade Range, rising 14,179ft from the surrounding landscape. Most of the other mountains in the area are around 3,000ft, so that makes the appearance of Mt. Shasta especially dominant. Mt. Shasta has been an inspiration for poets, philosophers, and adventurers for centuries.
